Becoming a service dog is hard work and is not for all dogs. Service dogs must be able to navigate large crowds, ride any type of public transportation, lay patiently for long periods of time, and be ready to perform a task. Perhaps even more challenging is to ignore distractions such as a friendly puppy, a taunting squirrel or bird, or excited children. Re-careering a dog may occur for various reasons such as; displaying behaviors that are not compatible with being a service dog, difficulty learning necessary skills or not passing health clearances. When this happens Puppy Jake Foundation adopts these wonderful dogs to individuals or families who would like to give them a forever loving home.
