Iron Hill Retrievers is proud to be a part of Puppy Jake Foundation! Excited to watch our English Labradors and American/European Golden Retrievers make a difference in a service Veteran’s life.

First, a little bit about me and how I got started raising puppies. My daughter wanted to show rabbits for a 4-H project. We visited a nearby breeder for rabbits; he also had four-week old Golden Retriever puppies. At the time we had a Great Dane, named Zeus, and thought we would get him a new buddy, Riley. My best friend and I went to pick out our male puppy and this beautiful female puppy kept coming up to me every time instead of the boy puppy I liked. Guess she was trying to tell me something, "Pick me"! I put the male and female down and said, "Which ever one comes to me first will be the one I am taking home”. The children arrived home later and were excited to see their new puppy. My son picked up the puppy first and said, "Hi Riley, wait this is a girl"! I told him, "Yes, she kept coming to me". They were excited and we named her Maggie.

Three years later I was starting to feel the empty nest syndrome and decided I would raise one litter of Goldens with our precious Maggie. It was the best experience ever!! God had a plan, reasons why I picked a girl instead of a boy. Because of Maggie, I achieved my passion and the love what I'm doing! It is so rewarding to strive to always improve the breeds and make so many families happy. Maggie is in our hearts forever and love and miss you sweetheart!

Iron Hill Retrievers has been asked to be a part of the 2014 Directory to Labrador Retriever Pedigrees Iron Hill's very own Water Bearer "Aquarius" will be featured in this ad. Aquarius is the mother of Puppy Jake Foundation’s Dean & Bucky.

Additionally, the Budweiser commercial for 2014 Super Bowl featured puppies related to my dogs. Dunbar, who is the grandfather to these puppies in the commercial, is the father of Barkley & Aquarius, future hopefuls in producing puppies for Puppy Jake Foundation’s program.

Iron Hill Retrievers is currently located in Eastern Iowa, but our puppies are all over the US. Our puppies make excellent pets, family, Therapy/Service companions and hunting partners. Breeding for quality, type, temperament, soundness, and always striving to improve the Retriever breed is my goal. Our Labs and Goldens are registered with the American Kennel Club and are tested before breeding.

I am so blessed to be able to do this full-time and our puppies are raised in our home with lots of love and care. We start crate training at 5 weeks, they are socialized daily, stimulated with lots of different toys, vet checked, and guaranteed!

Iron Hill Retrievers, "Home of the "Heavenly Puppies"!!!!
